The Institute The Institut d’Etudes Scientifiques de Cargèse (IESC) was founded in the 1960's by Maurice Lévy as a site for teaching physics to an international audience of academics and students. Since this time, it has played host to more than 700 events, with an average of 2000 participants every year. Nested in a creek near the pleasant village of Cargèse, the institute provides a self-contained world with dining, accommodation and teaching facilities all on-site. The main amphitheater is ideally located by the sea, just a short distance from a beautiful beach.
Practical information All participants will be accommodated in shared double rooms in the conference center or in apartments in the village of Cargèse (20 minutes walk). The Conference center housing facilities include 30 double rooms, including three rooms fully accessible for people with reduced mobility. Apartments and the rooms at the conference center are equipped with shared kitchens. Housing will be arranged by the conference center staff, who will do their best to fulfill your preferences. Breakfasts and lunches are included and will feature a buffet of locally sourced products, with a vegetarian option available. Evening meals are not included. The village of Cargèse offers numerous restaurants, reasonably priced and with vegetarian options.
Transfer to and from Cargèse Attendees should be at the Institut d'Études Scientifiques de Cargèse on Monday, April 20th. The simplest way to get there is to take the shuttle, which will pick up participants from Ajaccio on April 20th morning (exact time to be confirmed). At the end of the program, a shuttle will take the participants from Cargèse to Ajaccio on Saturday April 25th. Detailed information will be communicated later. We strongly encourage participants to consider sustainable travel options. Travel grants will be offered accordingly.
