The institute

The Institut d’Etudes Scientifiques de Cargèse (IESC) was founded in the 1960's by Maurice Lévy as a site for teaching physics to an international audience of academics and students. Since this time, it has played host to more than 700 events, with an average of 2000 participants every year. Nested in a creek near the pleasant village of Cargèse, the institue provides a self-contained world with dining, sleeping and teaching facilities all located on-site.
